BBB In a Nutshell

Before 2009, BBB differentiate company trustworthiness in two rating "unsatisfactory" or "satisfactory" but this organization adopted new grading system on 1st January, 2009. New system of grading rate business from A+ grade to F grade according to the information contains in file. If file does not contain sufficient information for grading an organization, then authority either request business industry to give information about their business state and size or rate as "No Rating" or NR which is not a satisfactory grade for consumer. Until November 2010, this organization only gives rating for its accredited business industries but now organization change their strategies and rated as "A+" grade for 625,000 non - accredited companies.

Organization hurts when an article published in famous ABC network news magazine. Magazine published an article with titled "The Best Ratings Money Can Buy". Some established business owner also reported about biased grading system of BBB. Business owner Wolfgang Puck reported that his businesses rated as F grade because he refuses to give membership fee. Another business tycoon Ritz Carlton also faces similar kind of situation. Survey also denotes two cases where lower grade is changed into higher grade after payment to the organization. A paid member also receives "A+" grade for his two fake companies.

Before having trust, one should know that there are lots of cases are pending against this organization. To make grading system clear and trustworthy parent body of this organization took several steps to restrict unauthorized facilities which were given to the member of this organization. Authority also constructed a complaints structure where any business organizations or consumers who are unsatisfied about the service of this organization can issue complaints against such services but still biased tag is not completely removed from this organization because in 2010 again a Canadian company reported that BBB degrade their rating to D- from A due to rejection of membership subscription.

"Time in Business" (8 to -10) is another factor of evaluation of company's trustworthiness. If company have not proper information about timing of business then BBB request company to give proper information about this matter. Organization checks the reliability of the information and check the company profile. Background Information also carries 5 or 0 grade point. If fails to provide proper background information or not clarify the practice and purpose ofbusiness, there is chance to get lower grade.

But still BBB provide lots of support and updated information about companies and their previous track records. In online website of this organization one can get details about business organizations and services. Member of this organization maintain a large database about each company. If company transfers their office, databases remain same to show track record of company.
